Pyrethrum Products!!

Pyrethrum
will kill any insect, mite and spider that you spray it on...
provided the concentration is high enough. But it doesn't last.
Sunlight breaks it down in hours. |
You
can't kill 'em any deader than dead. So why use more than you need?
One of the good things about pyrethrins is that it doesn't have
any residual life. You can only kill the pests that are out and
about at the time of the application. Those that come along later
may be repelled by the most imperceptible pyrethrins levels... or
you'll have to do it all again.
At
very low levels, pyrethrum will repel insects. Somehow, they must
naturally know it will kill... so they back off! This is particularly
important to bees. They stay well away and don't get killed. In
fact there are 101 uses for
natural pyrethrum and then some!
Sorting out pyrethrum from pyrethrins
Pyrethrum
is the flower and the name given to the extracted and refined material.
Pyrethrins is the component of the extract that has insect killing/repelling
properties. Pyrethrum is made up of 6 components: Cinerins I, Cinerins
II, Pyrethrins I, Pyrethrins II, Jasmolin I and Jasmolin II. Because
the pyrethrins are the only bits worth paying for, they are the
bits measured and recognised on the label.
The
Products:
Py-Bo Natural Pyrethrum Insecticidal
Concentrate
This is a solvent-free ultra concentrate to be diluted with water
at 1 ml per litre. At 80 g/L pyrethrins and 480 g/L piperonyl butoxide
(a 1:6 ratio), it is 20 times stronger than the 4 g/L products available
in garden shops
and much more economical to use in the instant
control of a wide range of crop pests.
In
a nutshell, if you have the equipment that can put a droplet or
three on any insect in your crop
it will die within minutes.
It
is an Approved input for Organic and Biodynamic producers but conventional
growers are also choosing PyBo because it does not have any resistance
problems and it is of such low hazard to the humans that have to
apply it.
The
withholding period is just 1 day.

DRIFT
Industrial Insecticide
|
Ready
to use, this is a much higher concentrate than normal for
misting or thermal fogging of flying insects such as mozzies
and midges outdoors and grain moths and beetles/weevils in
warehouses.
The
carrier is a light odourless oil that can be applied through
a ULV mister or a thermal fogger. Drifts higher concentration
means greater control with less liquid... less oily residues
on walkways, machinery and equipment.

FOG'N'MIST
Industrial Insecticide
|
This
is a ready-to-use more normal concentration of natural pyrethrins
and piperonyl butoxide. It is based on a light odourless oil.
It can be sprayed, fogged or misted to control cockroaches,
flies, moths, beetles, spiders, mites etc.
If
you hit 'em... you kill 'em.
|
|
But there's no point wasting it by applying more than you need to
kill those that are out and about at the time. There's no residual
life.

PICKET
Insecticidal Concentrate
| A
grain protectant to act as a picket line to keep insects out
of the pile! All the beetles, weevils and grain moths that love
to attack stored produce are killed and/or repelled by the application
of pyrethrins at 3ppm. The 2 litre bottle makes up 66 litres
of solution which is applied to the moving grain at 1 litre
per tonne to give 3-6 months protection. |
|
How
does this happen if pyrethrins has no residue?
Pyrethrins
is degraded by ultra violet light. There's precious little light
deep inside a silo or a heap of grain, so pyrethrins doesn't break
down as usual. The big bonus is that the repellency keeps the female
insects away. They aren't going to put their babies anywhere near
that pyrethrum stuff!
